Short-Term Rehabilitation
Under the direction of a Consulting Staff Physiatrist (a doctor specializing in rehabilitation medicine), our 30-bed dedicated rehab unit offers patients who are discharged from area hospitals a full component of rehabilitation services. These include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. In addition, we provide specialized medical care, such as pain management, intravenous antibiotic therapy, wound care and more. The rehab unit includes amenities, such as complementary cable, Wi-Fi and telephone service.
We provide restorative and therapeutic treatment to individuals who have experienced acute trauma, sickness, or illness which include:
- Neurological conditions, such as strokes, balance disorders, and Parkinson's Disease
- Orthopedic rehabilitation, including fractures, orthopedic injuries, and joint replacements
- Amputations and prosthetic rehabilitation
- Accident trauma
- Corrective surgery
- Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
- Arthritis
- Nutritional deficiencies
Our Rehabilitation Staff works with patients seven days a week to improve the skills needed to participate in daily living, such as: personal care; home management and meal preparation; transfer and gait training, therapeutic and balance exercises; restorative feeding; and, speech and swallowing retraining programs. To accomplish these goals, patients and their family members work with our Rehabilitation Team which includes:
- Physician
- Physiatrist
- Physical Therapists
- Speech Therapist
- Occupational Therapist
- Dietitian
- Nurse Practitioners
- Skilled Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants
- Social Workers and Discharge Planners
Prior to a patient's discharge, the Rehabilitation Team may conduct a home assessment in order to provide recommendations for equipment needs, and/or modification of architectural barriers, to ensure maximum safety and mobility within the patient's home environment.
