We are seeking a full time Director of Staff Development to join our team! This position requires being on call every 7th weekend as RN Supervisor or Charge Nurse with on-call bonus.

The primary purpose of your position is to direct in-service educational programs in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

This is a salary non-exempt position and includes On-Call as RN Supervisor or Charge Nurse every 7th weekend with on-call bonus. Starting salary $72,000, depending on experience.

Job Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Meet the nursing medical needs of all residents.
  • Conduct general orientation for all new staff
  • Develop and implement educational programs to ensure the knowledge and skills of personnel.
  • Identify needs for in-services and ongoing education and implement appropriately.
  • Maintain staff development records accurately.
  • Develop and distribute annual and monthly education calendars.
  • Assume the use of learned skills in the clinical area through daily monitoring.
  • Utilize various methods of teaching, including the utilization of communication resources.
  • Ensure that general orientation is completed for all employees/new hires.
  • Conduct C.N.A. training programs, as required by the facility.
  • Assure that C.N.A.s comply with the Nurses’ Aide training program and competency requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as an RN in this state.
  • Minimum one year of nursing supervisor experience in a long-term care facility
  • Must be able to do “on call” as RN Supervisor or Charge Nurse every 7th weekend
  • Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
  • Must have experience in supervision, principles and practices of teaching
  • Must have leadership skills and communication
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the privacy rule, comply with facility’s privacy practices, train staff in the same, and provide additional training if changes are made to policies and/or there is staff non-compliance.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.

Experienced Required

  • Minimum 1 year as Nursing Supervisor in a long-term care facility
  • Skills in leadership and communication

Education

  • Must possess, at a minimum, a Nursing Degree (RN) from an accredited school of nursing, college or university
  • CPR Certified

Schedule

  • 32 hours per week (weekdays only)
  • 8 am – 4 pm
